Davis at the Square is a redevelopment of a city-owned block within Historic Downtown McKinney. The sensitive master plan utilizes taller residential buildings with garage parking on the North edge of Downtown, with lower scaled housing and surface parking toward the South to transition to the surrounding residential neighborhood. JHP’s urban planning goals were to reestablish the Historic McKinney street grid and to develop the Northeast corner of the block into a commercial office building. Prior to this development, Downtown McKinney’s housing consisted solely of single-family homes. This project brings several much needed factors such as residential diversity, an emphasis on pedestrian accessibility, support to existing businesses, new public open spaces, and a new flexible range of commercial uses.
