Terre Haute combines healthy urbanism strategies into a visionary holistic community with a range of luxury housing, (midrise penthouses and secluded stacked-townhomes) office, retail, boutique hotel and restaurants. Active living, sustainable design and the Stewart Creek environs create a healthy enclave that sets a new standard of place-making. JHP envisioned a central “commons” designed to engage visitors and residents in various events such as runs, food truck days, pop-up markets, etc. A grocery store is not just a place to buy food, but for residents to engage in a healthy lifestyle by offering nutritional classes, fitness center, etc. with the daily availability of fresh food. Our planned development seeks to take advantage of a concept that only healthy urbanism can offer: the belief in personal wellness and community health that transcends the buildings in which contain it. The retail environment must be an interdependent network of like-minded retailers who personify and reinforce this belief in order for it to become a reality.
