CANstruction 2022

August 31, 2022

Even though we may not have won any official awards this year, we couldn’t be more proud of our entry and our team! We loved partnering with RLG yet another year. Check out more below:

Canstruction was founded in 1992 to unite the design, engineering, and construction industries through a unique and fun competition to benefit the North Texas Food Bank. Now in its 30th year, Canstruction Dallas is hosted at NorthPark Center and consisted of 19 entries in 2022.

The structure captures the scene from the book/movie “Wizard of Oz” where the house has fallen on the wicked witch. The disastrous twister that lifted the house is depicted, ravaging through the corner of Dorothy’s house. The details really complete the scene as you see the witch’s legs and red slippers under the house! Look closely, and you’ll see other fine details from the book, including the swirling yellow and red brick roads, as well as debris, cows, and more “floating” around the tornado!

DING DONG, the Wicked Witch is dead!!

One in every five kids in North Texas is food insecure – more than 257,000 children.

All the 100,000+ cans of food are donated to the North Texas Food Bank to help them in their mission of closing the hunger gap in the North Texas area.

With Team RLG & JHP in this year alone, our structure included:

  • 700 cans of Kroger Black beans
  • 1,370 cans of Starkist Tuna
  • 150 cans of Kroger Petite Diced Tomatoes
  • 280 cans of Red Gold Petite Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies
  • 600 cans of Del Monte Green beans
  • 200 cans of Hunt’s Petite Diced Tomatoes
