Conceived as an unbuilt design vision by JHP, The Gupton imagines a garden rising above Nashville’s transitional warehouse district. The tower is envisioned to grow lighter as it ascends–grounded at the street, then opening to glass, air, and sky. Terraces, rooftops, and green decks layer upward, framing sweeping downtown views and spaces for gathering, movement, and pause. Inside, expansive shared rooms and elevated homes with generous balconies suggest a community shaped by connection, daylight, and the experience of living above the city.

Set within a transitional warehouse district overlooking Downtown Nashville, The Gupton sought to introduce a 14-story residential landmark that balanced luxury and urban energy while responding to its industrial surroundings and expansive skyline views. The design needed to soften the context and establish a clear, nature-inspired identity.
Solution
JHP’s ‘garden in the sky’ concept shaped the tower’s massing and material expression, grounding the building with heavier street-level materials and transitioning upward to lighter, more transparent glazing. Stepped heights create rooftop terraces, while a layered amenity mix, including a resort-style pool deck, green roof with pickleball, yoga terrace, and generous lobby, coworking, and fitness spaces–supports community-focused living. Private balconies and wraparound sky-level terraces extend living spaces into the view.
Impact
The Gupton reimagines its warehouse-district setting with a refined, nature-forward vision. Layered amenities and elevated outdoor spaces enrich daily life, foster connection, and frame Nashville’s skyline–realizing an aspirational, view-driven urban living experience.
