Challenge
Pendana Senior Residences is a LIHTC-supported affordable senior housing community in Orlando’s West Lakes neighborhood, near Camping World Stadium. As the second phase of the West Lakes redevelopment in partnership with LIFT Orlando, the project needed to deliver high-quality, age-friendly housing while supporting a broader neighborhood initiative focused on housing stability, wellness, and opportunity.
Solution
The design responds to Central Florida’s climate and the needs of senior residents through architecture influenced by South Florida and Caribbean precedents. Deep overhangs and balconies provide shade, weather protection, and outdoor living space, while a restrained palette of soft neutrals allows landscaping and gardens to define the community’s character.
Impact
Pendana Senior Residences contributes to the continued revitalization of West Lakes by providing dignified, comfortable, and climate-responsive homes for older adults. The community supports aging in place while reinforcing the larger vision of a connected, inclusive neighborhood centered on well-being and everyday ease.
