The Monarch

Project Details:

The Monarch brings a new residential presence to Fort Worth’s Medical District, blending modern living with an easy neighborhood rhythm. Just steps from Magnolia Avenue, residents are connected to local dining, nightlife, and everyday conveniences. Shared indoor and outdoor spaces–including a resort-style pool and private gated yards support both gathering and retreat. A pedestrian sky bridge over 7th Avenue links the buildings and parking, creating a seamless, walkable experience that feels connected, comfortable, and distinctly urban without being overstated.

Challenge

The Monarch required a design that could strengthen a growing district while delivering a comfortable, high-quality residential experience. The challenge was balancing increased density with livability, establishing a strong street presence, and creating clear connections to surrounding amenities and neighborhood activity.

Solution

JHP organized the project as two connected residential buildings, prioritizing efficient circulation, privacy, and shared amenities. Outdoor rooms, controlled-access yards, and layered common spaces create a range of experiences for residents. A pedestrian sky bridge over 7th Avenue links the buildings and parking, supporting intuitive movement and a cohesive site experience.

Impact

The Monarch adds needed housing to Fort Worth’s Medical District, enhances the area’s urban character, and strengthens everyday connections to nearby medical facilities, local services, and the Magnolia Avenue corridor.
