In the heart of Oak Lawn, Alexan Maple brings a sense of heritage to a vibrant Dallas setting, with brick façades that feel grounded and enduring. A series of semi-private courtyards and a generous central garden create moments of retreat, centered around a large outdoor fireplace that invites gathering and conversation. The resident lounge opens effortlessly to the outdoors through expansive sliding glass walls, extending everyday life into the courtyard. Above, a rooftop lounge crowns the community with dining spaces, an elevated bar, and wide-open city views.

Challenge

Alexan Maple required a dense residential approach within Oak Lawn that could accommodate structured parking and a robust amenity program while respecting the neighborhood’s established scale and material character. The design needed to deliver meaningful outdoor space and a refined resident experience without feeling overbuilt or disconnected from its urban context.

Solution

The community is organized around layered courtyards positioned above and around the podium garage, creating usable outdoor rooms throughout the site. Shared amenities are anchored by a second-level pool deck and resident lounge that opens directly to the courtyards, extending daily life outdoors. Brick façades wrap the building to establish warmth and continuity with the surrounding neighborhood, while a rooftop lounge offers dining spaces, a bar, and views of the Dallas skyline.

Impact

Alexan Maple strengthens Oak Lawn’s urban residential fabric with a composed, amenity-driven environment that balances density with livability. Thoughtful massing, durable materials, and connected indoor–outdoor spaces create a lasting sense of place that supports everyday comfort and reinforces neighborhood character.
