Parkside at Craig Ranch is a walkable community shaped around shared spaces that anchor everyday life and foster connection across future phases. Central gathering places form the heart of the neighborhood, while traditional architecture reflects the character of the surrounding community. Four-story buildings frame expansive views of open fields and sky, and thoughtfully designed courtyards, gardens, and elevated amenities–along with a resort-style pool and pavilion–create places to gather, relax, and recharge. Together, these elements balance privacy and community in a setting designed for comfort, ease, and belonging.

Challenge

Parkside at Craig Ranch needed to introduce higher-density residential living within a predominantly suburban, single-family context while preserving neighborhood character. The project also had to establish a cohesive, walkable framework that supports multiple future phases and aligns with the City of McKinney’s long-term vision, including the development of a planning pattern book.

Solution

JHP planned a community organized around shared central spaces that anchor all phases and encourage daily interaction. Four-story residential buildings are oriented to capture views of open fields and internal courtyards, while amenities–including an elevated fitness center, resort-style pool and pavilion, dog park, yoga lawn, beer garden, private lawns, and connected garage access–support an active, community-focused lifestyle.

Impact

Parkside at Craig Ranch delivers a connected, walkable residential neighborhood that balances increased density with traditional character. The project strengthens community life through well-defined shared spaces, supports McKinney’s broader planning goals, and establishes a flexible framework for future growth within a thoughtfully designed master-planned district.
