Northside Station

Project Details:

Shaped by listening first, the Northside vision reunites a historic mill neighborhood as a place of daily life, shared purpose, and continuity. Within the master plan JHP developed, a neighborhood-scaled community hub unfolds like a small main street–ground-floor services, an on-site clinic, and the home of the Northside Development Group anchoring revitalization. Above, Wofford College brings classrooms and student housing into the fabric of the neighborhood, while 31 affordable homes ensure longtime residents remain part of its future. Together, learning, care, and living are woven into a setting where reinvestment feels rooted, human, and enduring.

Challenge

Northside needed a mixed-use anchor that could advance revitalization while naturally blending services, education, and housing into the existing neighborhood fabric.

Solution

Within the Northside master plan it developed, JHP designed a neighborhood-scaled hub that brings everyday services, a community clinic, and the Northside Development Group together at street level, with Wofford College classrooms, student housing, and affordable residences integrated above.

Impact

The project deepens access to care, learning, and housing in one connected place, strengthening Northside’s civic life and reinforcing a reinvestment strategy rooted in equity, continuity, and community identity.
