Carl was named President of JHP in 2021 after decades of shaping every facet of the firm’s growth and culture. He leads with a deep commitment to community-based design and a philosophy grounded in “People over Places.” An expert across housing typologies—from affordable and workforce communities to mixed-use and senior living—Carl continues to expand JHP’s reach and influence through strategic growth and new areas of practice. A thoughtful, intuitive designer and avid building code enthusiast, he approaches every project with curiosity and rigor, continually asking “What if?” to elevate impact and enrich the communities JHP serves.

Mark serves as Principal Emeritus at JHP, where his leadership and long-standing influence have helped shape the firm’s work in housing, commercial, mixed-use, and Transit Oriented Development environments. A steadfast advocate for thoughtful master planning, he has consistently emphasized the importance of projects contributing meaningfully to their broader urban and community context. Mark served as President of AIA Dallas and held multiple leadership roles with the Texas Society of Architects. He has represented JHP on the Transit Oriented Development Council at the Urban Land Institute and remains actively engaged in civic and urban redevelopment initiatives throughout Dallas.

John serves as Director of Design, leading project programming and overseeing the coordination of conceptual and schematic design across the studio. He guides projects from early vision through clear architectural direction, aligning creativity with disciplined execution. A LEED Accredited Professional, John advances the firm’s sustainable design research and implementation, embedding environmental responsibility into every solution. He is especially passionate about affordable and workforce housing, championing dignified, high-quality environments that strengthen communities. A collaborative leader and consensus builder, John inspires teams to elevate their work, driving excellence in multifamily and mixed-use communities nationwide.

With more than 25 years of experience, Jonathan brings a diverse portfolio spanning multiple sectors and project types. At JHP, he has led the design of numerous mid-rise, mixed-use, retail, urban infill, transit-oriented, live-work, and sustainable community developments. As Principal, he draws on deep commercial expertise to guide the firm’s Mixed-Use and Retail Placemaking practices nationwide. Jonathan is known for shaping vibrant, people-centered environments that blend market insight with thoughtful design, creating destinations that strengthen neighborhoods, elevate daily experience, and deliver lasting value for clients and communities alike.

Kirby first joined JHP as a summer intern and, after graduation and gaining broader experience, returned to the firm to continue building his leadership in complex urban design. Now serving as a Principal, he provides seasoned direction on high-density, transit-oriented development, and mixed-use projects. Known for his steady guidance and technical rigor, Kirby brings clarity and discipline to multifaceted work. He leads the firm’s Design and Technical Excellence process, aligning projects with internal workflows to ensure consistency and quality. By balancing innovation with practical execution, he delivers durable, resilient, and cost-conscious housing while mentoring teams across the studio.

For nearly four decades, Mike has helped shape JHP’s evolution through disciplined leadership and an unwavering commitment to design excellence. Elevated to President in 2003 and now serving as President Emeritus, he oversaw the financial management and day-to-day operations of the firm while guiding its long-term strategic direction. Although in a business leadership role, Mike’s first love is design. He has remained intimately involved in the concept development and execution of many of the firm’s highest-profile projects across commercial, retail, multifamily, mixed-use, and senior housing communities. His work reflects a deep commitment to creating Whole Communities—places thoughtfully planned, well-built, and enduring in their impact.

Born, raised, and educated in Mexico, Monica is an accomplished architect whose work bridges hospitality and residential design. Prior to joining JHP, she led international projects across Mexico, Central and South America, and Asia, delivering entertainment venues, restaurants, and mixed-use retail developments that shaped her service-driven design philosophy. Her global perspective has influenced JHP’s evolution into the senior living sector, where communities are envisioned as immersive, resort-inspired campuses enriched with dining, wellness, and social amenities. As Principal of JHP’s Hospitality Studio, Monica brings more than two decades of experience, creativity, and strategic insight to every project she leads.

Over a five-decade tenure, Ron has shaped the evolution of thoughtful urban design through visionary leadership and an uncompromising commitment to excellence. As co-founder of James, Harwick + Partners—now known as JHP—he has guided the firm into a nationally respected architecture and planning practice known for urban mixed-use, transit-oriented development, high-density infill, garden apartments, and affordable housing. Under his direction, the firm has earned national recognition for both design distinction and business leadership. Widely published and actively engaged in the profession, Ron continues to influence the future of cities through his leadership within prominent industry organizations and councils.

Sheila serves as Principal at JHP, where her career reflects steady leadership and deep technical expertise. Joining the firm as an architectural intern, she has grown into one of its most accomplished and prolific project managers, leading complex, large-scale accounts and award-winning work. She also spearheaded the opening of JHP’s Denver office, expanding the firm’s regional presence westward. Known for her precision and can-do attitude, Sheila provides firmwide oversight on Accessibility and Fair Housing requirements, guiding owners, developers, and public officials through regulatory compliance with clarity, confidence, and practical insight.

Brian serves as Director of Urban Design and Planning for JHP, bringing deep expertise in placemaking, community building, and the visioning of transformative neighborhood redevelopment. With more than 25 years of experience in mixed-use, urban infill, and master planning, he champions “Good Urbanism” rooted in diversity, sustainability, and long-term vitality. Brian is passionate about creating livable communities and memorable urban spaces that strengthen social and economic fabric. He has played a pivotal role in advancing JHP’s evolution toward an integrated planning and urban design practice focused on dense, mixed-use environments that prioritize people, connectivity, and enduring place-based value.
