Eagle’s Trace Community

Project Details:

Eagle’s Trace unfolds as a garden-like campus community in west Houston, shaped as a collection of distinctive neighborhoods gathered around welcoming community buildings. Along glass-enclosed walkways, everyday life stays close and comfortable–coffee and conversation, chef-prepared dining, wellness, creativity, and care. Residential buildings frame these shared hubs like front porches for the whole neighborhood, creating a rhythm of connection, independence, and ease. Designed by JHP, the vision gently comes to life over two decades, completing a thoughtfully woven campus where living well is both personal and shared.

Challenge

Eagle’s Trace, a Life Plan Community in northwest Houston, required a long-range master plan that elevated senior living through comfort, connection, and a strong sense of place. The multi-decade vision needed to accommodate a large independent living population and a full continuum of care while phasing a substantial campus build-out–without disrupting daily life and allowing the community to evolve naturally over time.

Solution

JHP organized the campus into three walkable neighborhoods, each centered on a Community Building conceived as the social heart of daily life. These hubs integrate dining, wellness, healthcare, arts, and essential services, while residential buildings are arranged along landscaped paths to reinforce neighborhood identity, human scale, and ease of movement.

Impact

Eagle’s Trace now reflects a cohesive, hospitality-inspired model for senior living that supports aging in place with dignity and choice. The master plan delivers a service-rich campus defined by warmth, familiarity, and a distinctly Houston sense of welcome.
